The Interactive Advertising Bureau was founded in 1996, with its headquarters in New York, and a Public Policy office in Washington, DC As an international non-profit association, it is exclusively dedicated to promoting the use and maximizing the effectiveness of interactive advertising. Its goal is to educate marketers, agencies, media companies, and the business community about the value of interactive advertising. Working with affiliated companies, the IAB evaluates and recommends critical research standards and practices in interactive advertising. There are more than 1,500 companies participating as active members in 44 countries, including: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, and Germany.
