Shane Barney is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In his role as CISO, Barney is responsible for leading USCIS' efforts to protect its information technology systems and data from cybersecurity threats, as well as ensuring compliance with federal regulations and standards. Prior to joining USCIS, Barney held various technology and cybersecurity leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), including serving as the Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) at the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM). He is a recognized expert in the field of cybersecurity, and has been a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences.
