At the AHLA's board dinner in Chicago this past weekend, Homchick was presented with the David J. Greenburg Service Award, named for the association's founder and awarded annually to an individual who has significantly contributed to the AHLA's growth and development. AHLA is the nation's largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in healthcare and promotes excellence in the field. "Bob is a leader, a mentor, and a true visionary—at our firm and in the larger health law community," said Hope Levy-Biehl, co-chair of Davis Wright Tremaine's healthcare practice group. "Our clients and colleagues have enjoyed the benefit of his extraordinary counsel for decades and we're thrilled that he is receiving this well-earned recognition." As a healthcare regulatory attorney, Homchick helps clients develop and implement compliance programs in areas such as physician self-referral (i.e., the federal Stark Law and its state law counterparts). He also defends providers in government audits, investigations, administrative proceedings, and litigation, including qui tam False Claims Act lawsuits. He also regularly represents hospitals, physicians, ancillary services providers, and others in mergers, acquisitions and affiliations, and the formation and operation of joint ventures. Homchick's professional recognition includes being ranked as a leading healthcare lawyer by all three of the leading lawyer directories: Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, and Super Lawyers. In 2017, he received the firm's John M. Davis Award for Outstanding Legal Expertise.
